This activated carbon block provides chlorine, taste and odor reduction capabilities that typically exceed granular activated carbon (GAC) filters. The carbon block is formulated from 100% coconut shell carbon. Its design offers a strong uniform, permeable filter medium that prevents channeling and bypassing throughout its service life. The carbon block O.D. is wrapped with a protective layer of spun filter matting that removes silt and other particles to extend the life of the cartridge. An outer netting offers protection from abrasion during shipping and handling. The inner core of the cartridge is also lined with a layer of spun filter matting to reduce media migration. White polypropylene end caps are securely bonded to the carbon block with a food-grade accepted adhesive. Buna end gaskets are formulated for use in drinking water applications designed to fit in most standard 10-inch housings. This filter cartridge offers the superior performance of carbon block technology at an economical price that is an attractive alternative to GAC filters. |
