The system's first stage contains a 5 micron sediment cartridge that removes silt, sand, turbidity, sludge, and grit from the water supply.

The second stage is a specially designed carbon block pre-filter that has been blended with an oxidation media to trap particulates of metals such as lead and copper. This block also removes, or greatly reduces, most of the chemical compounds that the EPA has deemed as health hazards in drinking water (see list below). This stage greatly extends the life of the reverse osmosis membrane when treating a water supply with high TDS.

The third stage hyperfiltrates the water under pressure and forces it through a reverse osmosis membrane which treats the prefiltered water on a molecular level, filtering out 93% to 99+% of dissolved solids such as salt, nitrates, lead, fluoride, and arsenic. It also filters out organisms such as cryptosporidium and giardia cysts (see list below).

The water then enters the RO storage tank until needed.

The system's final stage is a second carbon filter which is used to polish the RO water just prior to the faucet.
